Overview

The CPEL programmes lead to both post qualifying social work professional awards and to Higher Education awards. They are:

The Experienced Practice in Social Work (EPSW) Programme (60 credits at Level 6) – leading to the award of Graduate Certificate and the Experienced Social Work Practice Programme (ESWP) (60 credits at Level 7) – leading to the award of Postgraduate Certificate.

The Senior Practice in Social Work (SPSW) Programme (60 credits at Level 7) – leading to the award of Postgraduate Certificate or, if the ESWP P at Level 7 has previously been completed and is being built upon by completion of the SPSW, the award of Postgraduate Diploma.

The Consultant Social Work (CSW) Programme is a 60 credit, Level 7 programme leading to both a post qualifying social work professional award and to Higher Education award – either a Postgraduate Certificate Consultant Social Work Programme or a Postgraduate Diploma Consultant Social Work Programme (if the Senior programme has been completed).

Please note: A programme award can only be made when all programme modules have been successfully completed. Usually module completion will follow the order of the programme design. Full programme completion is normally expected over a two-year period, but you may use a total of three and in exceptional circumstances you may extend beyond three years in accordance with Cardiff University Senate Regulations.
